At the top of the year, I got the opportunity to create new theme music for NPR: Stateside on Michigan Radio! Shout out to my friend Laura Weber Davis, who gave me a chance to create an original theme. It's been inspiring to hear them playing the theme all year around on the show.

It was fun, but it was also a challenge. Having to create a piece in exactly one minute to fit the radio time restriction was probably the toughest challenge for me. Also, I wanted to create music that feels and reminds the listener of a "news" broadcast, yet is as soulful as Michigan music is. 

I was also inspired by the NPR All Things Considered evening news theme from 1995. That's my personal favorite.

This year broke alot of artists/musician's spirits - Mine as well. It was tough dealing with the deaths of many close friends and family due to COVID 19 and other causes. No touring, no true live performances, loss of income, and lack of inspiration are factors as well. I also lost access to a studio space that I was building up all of 2019 but be available to the public this year. 

However, personally this was one musical challenge I was excited to work on this year.
